The client is one of India's largest mobile payment platform that provides a plethora of digital payment solutions for remote villages across India including monetary transactions, bill payments, DTH Recharge, mobile recharge etc. where transactions are conducted through the client's authorised retail merchants with more than 3 lakh touchpoints across more than 700 cities in India.

Out Approach

The scope of the engagement was to measure end to end response time for the web application and also to look at the performance optimization on the server side. After the detailed test planning stage, load and scalability tests coupled with browser side analysis was finalized.

Our Solution

A comprehensive architecture review of the entire tech stack was conducted to diagnose performance issues, by dividing the scripts into two parts and performing load tests. Initially the team provided an exhaustive review of system vulnerabilities and recommendations for fixing them. The infrastructure was examined to identify bottlenecks in the CPU, storage and network.

It was found out that the application was not able to scale up with increase in users as could be seen by monitoring the infrastructure. As the number of users increased the response times also increased heavily, resulting in 5xx errors.

This Performance Benchmarking exercise helped the client to evaluate whether the IT infrastructure could handle the surge in transaction volumes without compromising service levels.
